Confession: I have a lot of blog posts in queue. I am having the hardest time writing up posts about our first few weeks here. So many emotions and things...

So here is what life looks like lately. The every day, in between, boring stuff that becomes routine. Some fun and Oma mixed in there too!

We picked up this lady! She promptly had some of her favorite treats
from a stand in the train station...not wasting time here :)

The very next day we took her out shopping and Starbucks for people watching.

We took her out to the outlets in the Netherlands. When we stopped for some road food at Burger King we found this...she is so famous here they named a burger after her :)

First Italian Eis of her trip.

We grew up with these so it was a must have!

This guy. Bestill my heart. So excited to get another hair cut.

And this girl. Between her and Ev...not a quiet second. After school, the poor thing touched some stinging nettle at the bus stop while picking up leaves. I got a very emotional and scared phone call.

The school nurse had a look and sent her on her way home. This was very traumatic for her.

She has so much she is learning and experiencing. I am so proud of her.

(She really has such a tender heart that is so innocent and sweet.)

The White One has gotten back into her routine and hibernates ALL day until P returns from school.

I really very rarely see her during the day.

She walks with me in the morning when I walk P to the bus and then retreats here.

Oma watched the kids one night and we met up with these fine people.

More shopping with Oma. She likes to look around and get out of the house.

These particular street performers are around at the same spot every time I go to the shopping area. Being a favorite of my mom's she liked to listen for a bit and

give them something each time we saw them.

This was the last time we were there...she was getting a little serenade from the clarinet player :)

There was some sampling of Oma's favorite drink happening as well.

Fun in the train! I don't know if he will ever get tired of taking train rides.

He and I use the train system all the time.

These two...bakery buddies :)

There is a bakery around every corner and every bakery has a

different variety of things. Endless possibilities!

With sister in school every day during the week, we get plenty of alone time.

All the snuggles and paint to himself ;) He keeps plenty busy but misses sister.

The kids were excited to welcome this guy to Koln yesterday! This picture makes me laugh...totally my kids' personalities. (Brother is making a wild man face while snuggling and sister is taking a selfie to capture the moment and posing for her shot like a diva while snuggling.)

So that's life around here lately.

A few Fun Fact Friday facts for you:

When you rent/get an apartment/flat here in Koln, it comes bare. As in no light fixtures, bulbs, or even sockets at all. Just wires coming from the ceiling. You move your light fixtures with you like you would your couch.

Your kitchen also comes bare. As in the only thing there will be the outlets and and water hookups. You buy and have the kitchen installed after you have keys to your new flat. This includes cabinets, sink, countertops, appliances, everything. Unless you find a flat where someone is trying to sell their kitchen with the flat and then you can buy it from the previous tenant...typically for thousands of Euros. So again, your kitchen would move with you like you would pack up your couch or kitchen table!
